We are proud to announce Brookstone’s first-ever Director of Fine Arts: Mr. Paul Hampton. Mr. Hampton, a theatre legend in the Columbus community, will be developing, teaching, and leading a robust schedule of programs for our students and their families. Brookstone’s commitment to the arts as an integral part of every student’s education is evident from grade 3K to 12. Whether it’s studio art classes, classroom productions, film classes, chorus, band, technical theatre classes, or advanced productions, every Brookstone student participates in and experiences the arts. We believe students must […]
Congratulations to sophomore Marianna Branch, who was recently named WLTZ Scholar Athlete of the Week! Marianna is a talented multi-sport athlete who is a leader on any team she’s a part of – and she’s only a sophomore. Not to mention she’s an academic powerhouse and one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. (Full disclosure, I am one of her biggest fans!) Unfortunately, Marianna suffered a season ending injury a few weeks ago, but the fact that she was still awarded this honor speaks volumes about her character […]
Congratulations to the members of the Brookstone Mock Trial Team! Best Witness in a Round: Olivia Willett […]
The Agri-Colga student group from Brookstone spent time recently filling the planting beds at our partner school, Fox Elementary! These upper school students are mentoring Fox students this spring teaching them how to grow their own healthy vegetables at their school. Students in the program, initiated and led by senior Emma Yancey, will go to Fox once a week after school to work with a designated group of students. We can’t see what “grows” out of this beautiful partnership!
Congratulations to senior Caleb Patillo for being chosen the Kinetic Credit Union Scholar Athlete of the Week! We are so incredibly proud of the example he sets on the athletic field and in the classroom. Caleb plans to attend Auburn University in the fall! Congratulations are well deserved!
On December 22, Senior basketball player Chris Edmonds scored his 1000th point as a Brookstone Cougar, becoming only the 7th player in Brookstone’s history to reach this milestone. At 1057 points (not counting the points in last week’s victory over Schley County), Chris is currently the third all-time leading scorer at Brookstone. What an amazing accomplishment and an equally amazing young man. We are all so proud of you, Chris! *Photo credits to Deron Hicks and Tiffany Grier.
Last week, on Wednesday, November 28th, a number of faculty and 50 students took part on a field trip to Montgomery, AL to visit the Legacy Museum followed by a visit at the Equal Justice Initiative (ELJ). EJI was founded by Bryan Stevenson, author of our 2018 all-school-read Just Mercy. Students were able to take in all the exhibits, visit with members of the EJI, and do some hands-on activities dealing with some very difficult topics. One of the highlights was being able to visit with Kuntrell Jackson, who was featured […]
