Four sport athlete Aleks Slavich has set the bar high for himself going into his senior year at Brookstone School, specifically in pole vaulting.

“I really have my mind set on winning state this year and I actually wrote it on a piece of paper and put it on my bathroom mirror so when I go to sleep every night and I wake up every morning I can look at my goals,” says Brookstone senior Aleks Slavich.

He knows what it takes to be a state champion finishing first all around in the Georgia gymnastics state championship. He’s also competed at the state level for wrestling and track and this year picked up football.

“A lot of pole vaulters are former gymnasts and so a lot of the cross training for that helps both of them. Football increased my speed tremendously. This is the first year I played football and my dad played football so I kind of just wanted to try it,” says Slavich.

In the classroom he excels with a 3.9 GPA, will graduate with 7 AP classes, is a member of the National Honor Society and the International Thespian Society.

“I like performing. I did my first production about three years ago and it was a circus theme production and so I got to do a bunch of flips and stunts in that and that kind of peaked my interest,” says Slavich.

Performing academically and athletically is at the forefront of his goals as he looks to get into West Point.

“My grandfather was a colonel in the United States military and he was actually the first person to arm U.S. helicopters in the Vietnam War and so I kind of wanted to continue on the military legacy in my family,” says Slavich.

Aleks is still waiting to hear back on his acceptance and plans to major in biomedical science. Congratulations to Aleks Slavich of Brookstone school, this week’s WLTZ scholar athlete.
