Spring Break 2018!

Even though students might be out for Spring Break, that certainly doesn’t mean the learning ever stops! We had four groups of students traveling on official school trips that spanned the globe.

One group of Upper School students set off on a College Tour. Over the course of the week, the 15 students and two college counselors traveled over 1,800 miles and visited 12 different colleges! They had special visits with the alumni attending these schools and even one special visit with a former faculty member!

Every year at Spring Break, the tour takes one of three different routes. This year, the students headed north and west and visited the following campuses: Berry College, Sewanee: The University of the South, Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, Memphis University, Rhodes College, Tulane, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Mississippi College.

Another trip consisted of a group of Middle School students who went hiking, rafting, and sightseeing around the beautiful Southwestern United States! The Grand Canyon was definitely a highlight!

Our third trip was made up of a group of seniors traveling to Oxford, England to spend a week at Spencer House, a residence established by Mr. and Mrs. J. Kyle Spencer, for the use of Brookstone and CSU students.

They visited Bath, took in the sights of London, toured galleries and museums, took in a performance of the Lion King and even went to a Watford FC soccer game!

Our last trip was for the students studying AP environmental Science, who traveled to Andros Island in the Bahamas. They spent the week checking out reefs, mastering basket weaving, snorkeling blue holes, which are intricate cave systems running underneath the island, and immersing themselves in the local culture!
