Best wishes and “Break a Leg” to the cast and crew of “How to Eat Like a Child!” This incredibly talented group of students, under the direction of theatre teachers Robby and Dotty Davis, were invited to perform in front of international audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburg, Scotland. We are so proud of them! Enjoy this behind the scenes look at the production and interviews with the actors and directors. What an amazing opportunity! Why Brookstone? For Endless Opportunities like this.
For the first time in two years, we were able to send our Middle School students out on the road for their annual class trips! Our 8th-graders headed to the beautiful moutains of Flat Rock, North Carolina to camp and hike. Our 7th-graders got to spend some time in lovely, historic Savannah, Georgia. And our 6th-grade students enjoyed a one day excursion to Desoto Caverns in Childersburg, Alabama. Though it was a rainy week for everyone, memories were made, life lessons learned, and fun was had by all!

We had another one scheduled to travel to Oxford, England, our annual trip to visit Spencer House. (You can read about that trip in 2019 […]

Starting a new school can be an anxious time on the part of both parents and kids! Over Homecoming this year, we had the privilege of inducting our 7th Class of Distinguished Alumni. These well-deserving honorees are nominated by their peers and voted on by a committee made up of fellow Brookstone Alumni. Each and every year, we stand in amazement at what they have accomplished. This year’s recipients were Catherine Biggers Trotter, Class of 1973, Deana Bass Williams, Class of 1991, and Timothy Collins Wilson, Class of 1979 (awarded posthumously). Their bios and accomplishments are below, but truly, words alone do not do justice to the […]

Sarah Bufolge Pitzen, Class of 2002 University of Georgia – B.S. in Psychology; Minor in Spanish and Art History Eastern Virginia Medical School – M.S. in Art Therapy What are you doing now? I have been with The Up Center, a non-profit human services agency, for the past 8 years serving in various roles but primarily as a Clinical Services Supervisor in the Outpatient Counseling department. We are currently embarking on an exciting adventure as we plan to open a military family clinic in partnership with the Cohen Veterans Network, which was founded by philanthropist Steven A. Cohen. As Lead Clinician, I will oversee a team of clinicians to provide evidence-based therapies to veterans and their family members to treat a variety of mental health problems including PTSD, anxiety, depression, adjustment to civilian life, anger, grief and loss, family dynamics, transitional challenges, relationship problems, and child behavioral problems. The Cohen Veterans Network is anticipating our clinic to be one of the highest utilized clinics of all the CVN clinics across the nation due to the strong military presence in our community.
