Our Preschool library is up and running! The children have enjoyed this new location for story time with Mrs. Trotter, our Lower School Librarian, and selecting their first books to take back to their classrooms. The library is arranged like a classroom library with bins of books gathered in topical or thematic groups. Books are displayed in the bins with the front covers facing forward which supports young children in making choices. Many thanks to Mrs. Mobley for working to organize and label all of the books and for committing […]
The sun has been shining and temperatures are beginning to rise, so our students have enjoyed being outside a little more recently. We’re so grateful for our beautiful campus and the spaces our students can learn and play. Spring can’t get here fast enough! Enjoy!
In January, Brookstone celebrated the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by honoring the theme of “Voices of Change.” The overall purpose of this theme was twofold: to remember the strength, perseverance, and integrity of one who is the voice of one of history’s quintessential movements for change and to know that his legacy continues on in all of us. As one part of our celebration of “Voices of Change,” students were asked to enter Brookstone’s very first Poetry Slam. Poetry Slams originated in Chicago, Illinois, as a way to […]

Why Brookstone? Why should I choose to send my child to Brookstone? These are questions often asked of us in the admissions department and they are valid questions. Why? What sets up apart? What makes Brookstone so unique? So we got to work to find our answer. Our faculty, administration, and Board of Trustees began working and surveying and researching to determine just what is it that sets Brookstone apart. And over and over again, these are the things that rose to the top. Here at Brookstone, PEOPLE MATTER. We […]

Halloween, like so many other things this year, might look a bit different, but we still had a whole lot of fun! Our Preschoolers, all decked out in their Halloween Finest, got to parade by our Middle School kiddos (who had their own Halloween fun in class!) And a huge thank you goes to our Upper School thespians for putting on a “spooktacular” event for our Lower and Intermediate School students to enjoy! Happy Halloween!
Servant Leadership is embedded in our culture in every way. Of course, thanks to COVID-19, our weeks of service might look a little different this year, but the heart behind them remains the same. We want to teach our kids empathy, compassion, and how serving others is a way of life. The students prepared bags for a variety of local agencies here in town – PAWS, Easter Seals, Brookside Glen, Ronald McDonald House, and Open Door. They also made goody bags for the Soldier Recovery Unit at Ft. Benning. COVID-19 […]
This past week the Board of Trustees of Brookstone School announced the launch of the Blanchard Leadership Institute. Brookstone has long held a foundational commitment to provide students endless opportunities to grow and thrive, to offer innovative processes that powerfully impact learning, to have a personal approach in all it does, and to always make sure people, families, our community, matter most. The Blanchard Leadership Institute will not only deepen these commitments but will provide students, faculty, and staff a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth, enabling them to […]
We’ve been in school for seven weeks now and we felt it was time to share the gratitude our parents feel for our teachers! Being a teacher in the best of times is always full of challenges, but teaching during a pandemic, balancing in-person and virtual learning, has elevated everything to new levels. So the least we can do is to THANK THEM! Because they are pouring themselves out on behalf of our children and we are so incredibly grateful for the work they do every day. So below are […]
