A Letter to Our Kids

Please enjoy this letter, sent out via email to our intermediate school parents this morning. What a powerful message for our children. Dear Intermediate School Parents. Are you ready?  We are!  School begins tomorrow (7:45 will be here before we know it), and many of you may have some back to school traditions to start off the new school year.  Others may be exhausted from decorating lockers and back to school shopping and will do what you can to get everyone fed and in bed early.  A friend shared with me a post from a parenting blog (a letter written to a son from his mom), and I have paraphrased it a bit to share with you.  It is my hope that you will find a way to share it with your son or daughter as he/she gets ready to begin a new school year.  Fifth grade parents, I know you received this last year, but I would love for you to share it again.  Dear Chase, Tomorrow is a big day.  Fourth (fifth) Grade – wow!  When I was in fourth grade, there was a little boy in my class named Adam. Adam looked a little different and he wore funny clothes and sometimes he even smelled a little bit. Adam didn’t smile. Adam never did his homework. Second Grade Poetry Reading

I have often told prospective parents that one of my favorite aspects of the lower school curriculum is the writing. And that is first and foremost because I am a parent! And I LOVE to write. Saying goodbye is hard!

Below is a letter from one of our parents, Nancy Peng, to Leigh Anne Floyd, head of the Intermediate School, upon her family’s departure back to China. Dear Mrs. Floyd, It’s so hard for us to say goodbye to Brookstone School! The passed 10 months for Andy and our family are the best memory in our life! I watched Andy’s growth day by day,  his progresses are not only at language improvement, furthermore on manner and mindset change. Every teacher gave him most love and encouragement, we still keep every […]

A Big Behind the Scenes Thank You!

Often those who work so hard behind the scenes at this school, or anywhere for that matter, fail to receive the thanks they deserve. So allow us to take this opportunity to express our sincerest thanks to the Brookstone Maintenance Crew. They are simply THE BEST. They work tirelessly day after day to ensure our campus is beautiful and in perfect running condition. And truthfully, none of us would be able to do what we do without this fine group of men doing what they do so well. We love you guys and are grateful for all you do! THANK YOU just isn’t enough!

Graduation- 2016

Brookstone’s 2016 Graduation ceremony was as lovely as ever. Not only did the weather turn out to be beautiful, but there was such sweetness to the festivities. Joy, accomplishment, reflection and camaraderie, all of those sentiments and more were palpable in this year’s ceremony.   Dr. Frank Brown, interim Headmaster, welcomes the crowd. Student speakers, Cara Hunter and James Sherrer, delivered speeches that reflected upon their Brookstone experiences. Describing his classmates, James said, “We are a group of 81 amazing minds, from so many different backgrounds, and we will be attending […]
