It was the perfect day for a “Book Tasting!” Today, Mrs. Trotter arranged for our second graders to have a “Book Tasting.” What is that, you might ask? It’s a beautifully set table designed to quickly sample books! The students were invited to sit and read the description of the book at their place and if they were interested in reading it in its entirety, they were to write the name and author on an index card. When the bell rang, they were to move to another spot and pick […]
Here at Brookstone, we feel it is important to equip our families with tools they need to navigate the various aspects of raising kids, and that often extends beyond academics. I am grateful for a school that offers educational opportunities for both parents and students on relevant topics that we all deal with on a daily basis. This week, our Guidance Department has hosted a series of screenings of the brand-new documentary, “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety.” Lower and Intermediate School parents were invited to watch together, while students in grades […]
It’s been such a treat to host students from our sister school, Petra School in Zimbabwe, on campus recently. Our partnership with Petra has continued to grow and flourish through the years. We’ve sent student groups there twice and had school administrators here at Brookstone on occasion, as well. This time, it was our turn to host students! Though they were here mostly as tennis players, traveling for intense training and exposure to American coaches, they were also here to visit Brookstone. All of our students who traveled to Zimbabwe in […]
Fall sports are off to an awesome start! And congratulations are in order to the following athletes: In Cross Country news, a HUGE shoutout goes to senior Caleb Pattillo ran a personal best of 17:18 on August 25th at the Bob Blastow Invitational in Whitesburg, GA. To put this into perspective, this was the fastest 3.1 mile/5k time by a Brookstone runner since 1990! (Shoutout to Roger Birkhead, Class of ’91!) That’s almost 30 years in the making! Way to go, Caleb!! In football news, senior Jeremiah Burgess has received “official” […]
Mrs. Bone, our Middle School art teacher captured this moment this past week in her 6th-grade art class. Spontaneous singing in art class? In MIDDLE SCHOOL? Kind of awesome. And their collaborative artwork? Beautiful. Great job kiddos!
One of the greatest things we’ve implemented here in our Lower and Intermediate School this year has been the door greeters. Designated students are asked to serve as greeters for their respective classes or division each week just to start off each day with a friendly hello. Nothing cuter in the world! Hope you have a great day!
The Intermediate School might just be one of the happiest places on campus! This past week, parents were invited to join in on the Morning Meeting to get a glimpse of what their children experience every day. After lots of dancing and singing, announcements were made, accolades were given, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and a mini spirit competition was held before sending them off to class. Wish I’d been able to start the school day this way! It was awesome! Enjoy!
