Winners of the statewide 2021 Governor’s Honors Program have been announced and Brookstone is proud to recognize two outstanding students. After completing a series of nominations, applications, and interviews, Jack Flournoy ’23 has received an invitation to participate in the 2021 Governor’s Honor Arts Program in Visual Arts. “I have known Jack for almost 3 years and have watched him grow in his skills in art, his incredible adaptability to problem solving, and his ability to maintain a positive attitude. Our Preschool library is up and running! The children have enjoyed this new location for story time with Mrs. Trotter, our Lower School Librarian, and selecting their first books to take back to their classrooms. The library is arranged like a classroom library with bins of books gathered in topical or thematic groups. Books are displayed in the bins with the front covers facing forward which supports young children in making choices. This past Friday, our Lower School students showed off their voluminous vocabulary and love of language in our third annual Vocabulary Parade! It was a dazzling display of exceptionally creative and colorful costumes that dotted our campus and classrooms. Enjoy these photos and the accompanying video. It was simply phantasmagorical!
The sun has been shining and temperatures are beginning to rise, so our students have enjoyed being outside a little more recently. We’re so grateful for our beautiful campus and the spaces our students can learn and play. Spring can’t get here fast enough! Enjoy!
In January, Brookstone celebrated the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by honoring the theme of “Voices of Change.” The overall purpose of this theme was twofold: to remember the strength, perseverance, and integrity of one who is the voice of one of history’s quintessential movements for change and to know that his legacy continues on in all of us. CheerleadingOur Competition Cheerleading Team placed 3rd in the state finals recently! Swimming The Varsity Girls Swim Team placed 4th in the state meet. Among their accomplishments: the relay team placed 3rd in 400 freestyle, Holly Mattson placed 5th in the 500 freestyle and 6th in the 200 freestyle, and Alex Leary placed 5th in 200 IM.
