It was a stormy day not long ago, but that did not stop our vocabulary words from being on parade! Spearheaded by Erin Trotter, our Lower School Librarian, the parade was the perfect way to celebrate the month of March – National Reading Awareness Month! Over the course of the month, Mrs. Trotter read The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds to all of the Lower and Intermediate students, which in turn inspired our Wear Your Favorite Word to School Day and Vocabulary Parade. She knew it would be a wonderful way to highlight the work […]
On the 13th annual Upper School Day of Service, as our students were spread across the community in partnership with local organizations, our seniors had a special service opportunity as they worked in our own Lower and Intermediate school classrooms with students. And as one who was able to observe the interactions in the various classrooms, let me just tell you that I’ve never seen anything so precious in all my life. It was AWESOME! The teachers loved it, the seniors loved it, and the little ones loved it. One […]
On the Friday before Spring Break, we held our annual 13th annual Upper School Day of Service. And what a wonderful day it was! Our 9th and 11th Grade classes worked with organizations across the Columbus area, including Open Door, Feeding the Valley, Truth Springs Academy, The Boys and Girls Club, Columbus Dream Center, Fox Elementary School, Damascus Way, Valley Rescue Mission, and Girls’ Inc. Back here on campus, our 10th Grade class held a special carnival for our friends at Easter Seals. Students were paired one on one with our […]
Our students were busy over spring break (more blog posts to follow!) But one trip, in particular, gave some of our Upper School students the chance of a lifetime – the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall! Karen Hearn, Brookstone Music Director, began rehearsing with 16 students in January for the Children of Peace concert held in Carnegie Hall. Hours and hours of rehearsals were held after school to prepare for this performance. The Brookstone students joined with five other schools from New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, and […]
Earlier this year, our first-grade classes hosted a special event to showcase the travels of Flat Bubba – based on the Flat Stanley book series. And Flat Bubba has been all over the world! They were eager to share in his adventures! But now, we have big news to share! Flat Bubba, who has literally been all over the world this year, has recently returned from his most prestigious trip yet – to the White House! Yes, you read that right, Flat Bubba has just returned from the White House […]
Sometimes you just need some cuteness in your life. And what better way than to do that than to have baby goats come visit our Kindergarten classes! There’s pretty much nothing cuter. Thanks to the Hord family for sharing their new babies!
It might be springtime, but our football players already have next season on their mind! And from the looks of it now, it’s going to be a good one! See the following email excerpt from our Varsity Football Coach, Blair Harrison: Our football team just finished our “winter phase” of our strength program. I have traditionally sent a communication on how we are doing to our football parents. But in all honesty, I am using this platform to brag on our players! They have been working so hard and I […]
