Drs. Lee and Leland McCluskey Serve in Iraq

We are so proud of Drs. Lee and Leland McCluskey!

Earlier this year in January, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Brookstone Board Member, Dr. Lee McCluskey, along with his son Leland McCluskey Jr., 4th year Mercer Medical student, served on a Disaster Assistance Response Team with Samaritan’s Purse in Northern Iraq. Working in a field hospital in Mosul, they experienced up-close the stark realities of war.

It is not the first time Lee has been in disaster relief situations. For many years, he has volunteered with World Medical Mission, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Each year since 2004, he has donated two to four weeks of his time serving others in third world countries, working in hospitals in Kenya, Honduras, Haiti, Nepal and Ecuador, and most recently, Iraq.

This time, his oldest son accompanied him. Leland, a member of the Brookstone Class of 2008, will graduate from Mercer Medical School on May 6. Upon graduation, he will begin his residency at Tulane University.

They were able to share their experience in Iraq today at St. Francis Hospital. We are so grateful for the McCluskey family and the way they model servant leadership for us every day.
