Athletes to Celebrate
Fall sports are off to an awesome start! And congratulations are in order to the following athletes:
In Cross Country news, a HUGE shoutout goes to senior Caleb Pattillo ran a personal best of 17:18 on August 25th at the Bob Blastow Invitational in Whitesburg, GA. To put this into perspective, this was the fastest 3.1 mile/5k time by a Brookstone runner since 1990! (Shoutout to Roger Birkhead, Class of ’91!) That’s almost 30 years in the making! Way to go, Caleb!!

In football news, senior Jeremiah Burgess has received “official” praise and recognition two weeks in a row. The first was for his performance in the game against Montgomery Academy on August 24th.
Georgia High School Football Daily recognized him as one of the “best of the rest” for his strong performance in last Friday night’s game against Montgomery Academy. During the game, the RB/DB rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, made six tackles, intercepted a pass, and returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown.
Then last week, in the August 31st game against Jordan High School, Jeremiah again had a stellar performance.
Max Preps Georgia High School Football Daily Edition named him one of the Best of the Rest! Noting that he rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries and had 132 yards on kickoff returns in a 61-25 victory over Jordan. He also had three tackles and recovered an onside kick. Way to go, Jeremiah!

Max Preps also named Brookstone’s offensive line as one of their Lines of Distinction. The “O” Line consisting of Pepper Miller, William Neal, Blake Foster, Coleman Galbraith, Wesley Brown, Hap Perkins, and D.J. Jones helped the Cougars put up 501 yards of total offense – 431 rushing, 70 passing – in a 61-25 victory over Jordan, a team that defeated Brookstone last season.
