New Athletic Complex Coming
Dear Brookstone Families,
We are excited to announce Brookstone’s plans to construct a new Athletic Complex designed to meet the growing needs of our successful Cougar athletic teams and our school community as a whole.
The current stadium, constructed in the early 70s, has served Brookstone School for almost 50 years. While for some time Brookstone has talked about the need for improvements to the facility, we now have a broader vision for a complex that will include a new natural turf field, a new eight lane track, LED lighting, a stadium plaza much like the baseball and tennis plaza, new home and away grandstands, and upgraded press box and concessions.
A part of this project that has already been completed is the LED video scoreboard donated by the Amos family and installed before the first game of the 2020 football season. These improvements will become a perfect host for football, soccer, and track and field as well as serve as a gathering place for many school events. The renderings below show us this vision.
The funding for the new complex is being provided fully by special gifts to the school without impacting Brookstone’s operating budget. This $6 million dollar project would not be possible without generous donors who chose to invest in the lives of our students. Their commitment to Brookstone is humbling and is what makes our school special among independent schools.
Groundbreaking for the project will begin in earnest early February, and we will watch the new facility take shape throughout the spring with an expected completion by the first home football game in the fall. The logistics of several school activities will be impacted during the construction phase. Look for specific details surrounding these activities. Brasfield-Gorrie will lead this construction project, one that will provide for our students an elite facility where they can compete at the highest level.
Building the Athletic Complex now is a perfect way to celebrate Brookstone’s 70th anniversary. This new complex will strengthen our athletic programs, dramatically improve the student athlete experience, enhance the experience of visitors to our campus, and elevate the culture of pride and school spirit throughout the community. We are excited to be a part of this community’s teamwork in making this vision a reality.
Go Cougars!
