Taking Class Outside

“This world is but a canvas to our imagination.” Henry David Thoreau Sentiments like this are one of the reasons we love to get our students outside as much as we can. Having a beautiful campus and wonderful places to gather provides many opportunities for our students and teachers to enjoy being outdoors. So as I walked to the cafeteria last week, I loved spotting Dr. Harkey’s Crime and Punishment class gathered around Courtney’s Pond and discussing Dante’s Inferno. Sometimes, just the very thing you need to inspire good conversation […]

Global Online Academy

When Brookstone became a member of Global Online Academy in 2017, we joined a consortium of elite independent schools committed to developing students through excellent teaching and deep learning in shared, online classrooms. In fact, there are only four other schools in the state of Georgia who are members, Lovett, Savannah Country Day, and Westminster. Brookstone’s partnership with GOA allows eligible students access to specialized courses during which they engage and learn alongside students from around the world. With so many new freshmen entering high school, the Freshman Retreat serves an important purpose, integrating new students into the class, and it does so incredibly well! […]

Grateful Parents!

We know that there are great things happening at Brookstone School on any given day, but it’s always nice to hear feedback from parents! Below is an excerpt from an email sent to Leigh Anne Floyd, our Lower and Intermediate School Principal, from one of our new families, shared with their permission. Kudos to our teachers and administrators for creating an environment as special as the one here at Brookstone. As a parent, there is nothing more gratifying than to see your child blossom and grow. My son had a […]

Need something?

Middle school is one of life’s hardest seasons – even under the best of circumstances. That’s why when walking through the halls this morning, I was struck by the beauty of this simple bulletin board. Who doesn’t need some love, hope, peace, kindness, self-control, or humility? Thank you, Middle School faculty, for fostering an environment such as this. Here’s to more of all of these things flooding the hallways and classrooms of our school!
