Sometimes there are so many great things going on to share them all, so consider this a compilation of a few, but not all, of things going on in the Upper School! Mrs. Lumsden’s AP Environmental class took a field trip to the local marina looking for macro invertebrates and also because of the large amount of solid waste pollution, did a clean up while there. They found mussels and a few fish, but very few macro invertebrates. They then decided to follow up with a water quality test. As […]
When Brookstone became a member of Global Online Academy in 2017, we joined a consortium of elite independent schools committed to developing students through excellent teaching and deep learning in shared, online classrooms. In fact, there are only four other schools in the state of Georgia who are members, Lovett, Savannah Country Day, and Westminster. Brookstone’s partnership with GOA allows eligible students access to specialized courses during which they engage and learn alongside students from around the world. Courses are led by teachers exclusively from member schools, and they all […]
Upper School Club Day was last week and it was a beautiful day on the quad to hold sign ups! One of the great things about Brookstone is the ability to be involved in a variety of activities! And with over 40 clubs to choose from, from academics to sports to the arts, there truly is something for everyone! Just to name a few, there’s a club for sign-language, coding, fishing, gardening, ornithology, investment, pre-med, music, dance, and school spirit to choose from. There’s even the Happy Club! Who doesn’t […]
When learning is fun and engaging, students thrive! Our 8th graders have been studying kinetic and potential energy recently, so they’ve been doing some pretty “energetic” activities! Enjoy these photos from Mrs. Robertson’s science class! They’ve been building roller coasters all around the classroom and doing some pretty amazing feats with popsicle sticks! If you were having trouble playing the video, you can click here to watch it!
The Brookstone Robotics Team, made up of nine students, hosted a tournament this past weekend. Ten teams from around the south Georgia area participated. Brookstone finished second in the meet and is well-positioned to make a run for the state tournament! Congratulations to these young engineers! It’s amazing what they can build! #betheonewhoinnovates
We’ve been highlighting a lot of science lately and the engineering marvels continue! Check out this video from 4th grader Lawson Mansfield, who shows off the robotic arm he created himself! #betheonewiththecreativemind
