We’ve written before about the Home is Where the Art Is program orchestrated by alumni Bo Bartlett at Rosehill Safe House here in Columbus. Our students are the coolest! Today the students from the Upper School Applied Leadership class used patterns and old blue jeans to cut out pieces that will be turned into shoes for children in Africa! The pieces our students are cutting will go to an organization called Sole Hope who employs people in the villages of Africa to put the shoes together. It was a great experience for the students and a lot of fun! And it goes without saying that their efforts will bless a whole lot of people. […]

It was such a treat having the All-American High School Film Festival here on campus this past week with their roadshow! This was the festival our Advanced Film Class was a part of in October in New York City. What an awesome experience to bring them here to campus! They held events for both our middle and upper school students that highlighted films submitted by middle and upper school students from around the country. One of the things we are most proud of here at Brookstone is our reading and writing curriculum. Over the last few summers, several teachers from the lower and intermediate schools have traveled to Columbia University in New York to train in their Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project, including 4th grade teacher, Cathy Smith, and 5th grade teacher, Mia Rice. Brookstone has the most beautiful campus in Columbus, Georgia hands down. That’s why our teachers get our kids outside as much as possible. After all, who doesn’t get inspiration from such beautiful surroundings! Enjoy these pictures of Mrs. Powers 2nd Grade writers in action.
