Cuts for a Cure

This past week, Brookstone once again hosted Cuts for a Cure, the national effort in which women and men donate their hair to make natural wigs for people suffering from cancer. Started in 2012 by Kate Wilson, Class of 2014, this event has become an incredible opportunity for students to give back in one of the most personal of ways. Kate, inspired by her own mother’s battle with breast cancer, was able to attend this year’s program as well. Click here to watch the WRBL news report from the event. This […]

Cub Track 2018

Any time our Upper School students get to work alongside our Lower and Intermediate school students, it’s a special thing. And Cub Track might just be one of my all time favorite examples! For several weeks each spring, our Varsity Track team works with our younger students, teaching them the ins and outs of track and field events. This culminates in a grand track meet pitting the “Blue” and “White” teams against each other! Enjoy these pictures from the event!! The future looks bright for Brookstone Track! (And not that […]

45 Years in a Row – Area Champs!

It’s true! The Brookstone Varsity Girls Tennis team just won the area championship for the 45th year in a row! That’s correct! Every year since 1973, our girls have clinched the title – for 45 straight years! We don’t like the throw around the word “Dynasty” loosely, but I think we could make a pretty strong claim in this instance! Congratulations, girls! On to the next round!

Glass Blowing on the Quad

We have been celebrating the arts this spring, and yesterday, we were fortunate to have another incredibly talented artist visit our campus. Kelly Robertson, with Calvary Glass in Atlanta, spent most of the day sharing his gift with our students. Our youngest classes enjoyed choosing colors to accentuate a lovely glass flower, while the older students listened and asked questions about the physics and chemistry of glass blowing. The results? Absolutely beautiful!   Thank you to BPA and the Arts Alliance for making Kelly’s visit possible and all the many unique […]

Puppetry Comes Alive!

We are so grateful for an active and engaged parent association who makes great things happen for our school. They are simply the best! Last week, the BPA invited Lee Bryan, aka That Puppet Guy, to spend a week with our students as part of our annual Literature Live event. What he did with our students was nothing short of amazing! Though he put on fun and interactive shows with all of our Lower and Intermediate School students, our 5th graders had a special opportunity. They spent the week making life […]

Spring Break 2018!

Even though students might be out for Spring Break, that certainly doesn’t mean the learning ever stops! We had four groups of students traveling on official school trips that spanned the globe. One group of Upper School students set off on a College Tour. Over the course of the week, the 15 students and two college counselors traveled over 1,800 miles and visited 12 different colleges! They had special visits with the alumni attending these schools and even one special visit with a former faculty member! Every year at Spring […]

Service Trip to Zimbabwe

Servant leadership is at the heart of the Brookstone education. And over winter break, four of our upper school students had an amazing opportunity to take the lessons learned here and carry them around the world to Zimbabwe. Below is a guest blog post about the trip written by junior Graham Wolff. When I signed up to go on the Zimbabwe trip, I really did not know what to expect. I wasn’t sure if there would be lions prowling around, dirt roads everywhere, big cities, or villages. But I decided to travel […]
