Golf – 2016 STATE CHAMPS!

For the 15th time, that’s right, the 15th time, Brookstone clinched the Golf State Championship. Defeating First Presbyterian Day School by 10-shots, the Cougars roared to secure the title after finishing fourth last year. Coach Hunter Chapman said last year’s finish actually served as a motivator for this young team. With no pressure to keep up a streak, they were able to focus on simply playing well. And play well they did. Congratulations, guys! You are the STATE CHAMPS!! To read more about the victory, click here!

3D Fashion Show

If you missed the big event, click here for more photos and video interviews with our amazing students. Their designs were simply beautiful. But it’s the technology, combined with creativity, ingenuity and hard work that makes this event truly special. All of the dresses were custom made, sewn and printed, as were the bow ties. They had special help from the kind people at Immersion Graphics, who helped them “paint” the bow ties using a technique called hydro-dipping. The end result was simply stunning.

Shout out to Jake Martin!

We could not be prouder of junior Jake Martin, who was featured in the paper and on the news recently for his ability to play varsity baseball, and play it well, with an underdeveloped hand since birth. But for those of us who have known Jake a long time, we know that he has never let his hand slow him down or hold him back in any area of his life. Whether that be on the baseball field, in the classroom, or in the great outdoors he loves so much. […]

We live in a military community, Columbus being home to one of the finest military establishments in the world, Fort Benning. And we are so proud of our relationship with Fort Benning, as a community and as a school. That’s why it is fitting to celebrate April as The Month of the Military Child! All month long our kids are sporting purple t-shirts on Wednesdays to celebrate and support our students who have a parent who has served in our military or is currently serving. As a military wife myself, it […]

Hope Through Art!

We’ve written before about the Home is Where the Art Is program orchestrated by alumni Bo Bartlett at Rosehill Safe House here in Columbus. This week, our 4th graders had the privilege of getting to work with the program and paint with its participants. We’re grateful for the vision of Bo Bartlett, and parent volunteers like Helen Brooks, Class of 1992, who worked together to make such an event happen. It was indeed a special day for all involved. Watch the WTVM News interview with Bo Bartlett by clicking here, as well as […]

We are so proud of our reading and writing curriculum here at Brookstone. We’ve written about it in other posts, but I want to share with you a writing sample for you to read on your own. Leigh Anne Floyd, Intermediate School Principal, shared this sample with the faculty via email: Students in the fifth grade are working on their unit of study for memoirs in writing workshop with Boofus, and each of our boys and girls are OWNING this genre of writing.  Those of you teaching middle and upper school […]
