Graduation 2015

Graduation 2015…It was amazing. You simply could not leave campus this weekend without knowing for certain that this is an incredible school.  In fact, as an admissions director, I wish I could somehow combine our open house events with our graduation ceremony because the whole time all I could think was, I wish everyone could see this. THIS – this is what it is all about.  The end result, the grand finale, the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance, and friendship and community.  THIS is a day worth […]

End of the Year Awards

It’s awards season at school!  There are plenty of assemblies to go around and lots of awards being handed down!  But that’s a great thing because it means there are so many people worth honoring! So while all of the award recipients are worth publicly lauding, there are two in particular I am highlighting here, mainly because I am one proud mom. First, this boy, my second born, won an award for his work in his Studio Productions class. Studio Productions is one of our many elective classes and is taught by […]

Memories Made

It is impossible to highlight all the things that are happening on this busy campus during the month of May.  In fact, do we not all agree that May is by far the busiest month of the year?  However, it is busy with a lot of good things and many reasons to celebrate. A couple of highlights: Our Baseball Team What a way to end the year.  These young men represented our school so well, making it all the way to the final four in the state playoffs.  Fans packed […]

1st Grade Writing and 8th Grade Speech

Today, I got to witness two amazing things that Brookstone teaches so well – writing and speaking. First, my sweet third child gave his 8th grade speech – standing in the same spot I delivered mine nearly 30 years ago. I remember mine well.  The topic was manatees.  I don’t remember much of what I said, but I remember the round carriage of the slide projector stationed securely in the middle of the Turner Center.  My best friend advanced the slides for me manually, the projector making a noise that is […]

We’re equally proud of senior Ishani Rewatkar for winning the Page One Award for Science last night, as well.  These girls are not only super smart with an amazing future ahead of them, they are just lovely young […]

Senior/Faculty Competition

I could start every blog post with the words, “I love this school.”  And I do. The annual Senior/Faculty competition has given me just one more reason to do so. Over the course of the last several weeks, the Upper School faculty and the senior class has been competing in a series of events.  From basketball to board games and an assortment of contests in-between, this annual competition is more than frivolous fun.  It is just one more example of what makes Brookstone so awesome. I say this without hesitation […]

Brookstone in the Springtime

This week has been one of those weeks that reminds me of all the reasons I love this school.  The weather has been postcard perfect, the skies are a spectacular blue, the trees are budding and the birds are singing.  It’s just absolutely beautiful. But it’s more than the beautiful campus that makes me love this school.  It’s the people here.  It’s the students.  It’s the teachers – working together, growing together, learning together.  The campus is alive with activity and I get to see it all first hand.  Iit […]
