Friday Fundays!

There’s a lot of pressure in schools these days – grades, test scores, academic performance, college acceptances, etc., etc. All of these things are important, of course, but all these things can lead to stress and anxiety in our kids, too. So we need to find a balance. That’s why Friday Fundays in the Upper School are meant to bring some lighthearted levity to life! Let the kids laugh! Let the kids sing! Let them be kids! So here’s to karaoke in the rotunda!  ‪#WhyBrookstone? Friday Fundays, that’s why!‬

Breakfast Under the Lights and Cub Football 2019

It’s fall and that means football! And two of my favorite traditions here at Brookstone – Breakfast Under the Lights and Cub Football are all about just that – football! Our Roaring Branch Campus is one of the most beautiful areas of our campus, yet most people never even get to see it! Nestled in the wooded area behind our football and baseball fields, is a hidden gem known as our Roaring Branch Campus. It’s made up of a gently flowing creek, a mile-long cross country trail, an outdoor amphitheater, a Chapel, and […]

Parent University – Public and Permanent

One of the MANY reasons I love Brookstone School is because of the true commitment the school has to our kids’ well-being. The same can be said for us as parents. That’s why I am so grateful for our Brookstone Parents Association and our faculty who work together to bring speakers to campus whose knowledge and expertise will benefit us all. They are called Parent Universities. And this school year alone (as in since August!!), we’ve had Dr. Scott Hamilton, an expert in the field of learning differences and executive […]

How much homework is too much?

How much homework is too much? It’s a valid question. It’s also a question I’m glad Brookstone School is not afraid to ask. Last year, our Upper School teachers began doing some research into the amount of homework students had to do each night. Obviously, there are lots of factors that go into the amount of time each student spends on homework, such as after school activities, technology, and routine bedtimes, but regardless, an informal survey of our students from last year indicated over 70% of our students said that […]
