The Agri-Colga student group from Brookstone spent time recently filling the planting beds at our partner school, Fox Elementary! These upper school students are mentoring Fox students this spring teaching them how to grow their own healthy vegetables at their school. Students in the program, initiated and led by senior Emma Yancey, will go to Fox once a week after school to work with a designated group of students. We can’t see what “grows” out of this beautiful partnership!
Please join us for the Upper School Insight on November 29th at 6:00 pm. This will be a special evening for both current and prospective rising 9th grade families to gain better insight into all Brookstone Upper School has to offer. Both students and parents are invited. Sometimes there are so many great things going on to share them all, so consider this a compilation of a few, but not all, of things going on in the Upper School! Mrs. Lumsden’s AP Environmental class took a field trip to the local marina looking for macro invertebrates and also because of the large amount of solid waste pollution, did a clean up while there. They found mussels and a few fish, but very few macro invertebrates. They then decided to follow up with a water quality test. As […]
Upper School Club Day was last week and it was a beautiful day on the quad to hold sign ups! One of the great things about Brookstone is the ability to be involved in a variety of activities! And with over 40 clubs to choose from, from academics to sports to the arts, there truly is something for everyone! Just to name a few, there’s a club for sign-language, coding, fishing, gardening, ornithology, investment, pre-med, music, dance, and school spirit to choose from. There’s even the Happy Club! Who doesn’t […]
This past week, Brookstone once again hosted Cuts for a Cure, the national effort in which women and men donate their hair to make natural wigs for people suffering from cancer. Started in 2012 by Kate Wilson, Class of 2014, this event has become an incredible opportunity for students to give back in one of the most personal of ways. Kate, inspired by her own mother’s battle with breast cancer, was able to attend this year’s program as well. Click here to watch the WRBL news report from the event. This […]
Servant leadership is at the heart of the Brookstone education. And over winter break, four of our upper school students had an amazing opportunity to take the lessons learned here and carry them around the world to Zimbabwe. Below is a guest blog post about the trip written by junior Graham Wolff. When I signed up to go on the Zimbabwe trip, I really did not know what to expect. I wasn’t sure if there would be lions prowling around, dirt roads everywhere, big cities, or villages. But I decided to travel […]
