2019 Brookstone College Tour

Over spring break, 27 energetic Upper School students joined our two college counselors, Frances Berry and Jon Terrell, for our 18th Annual College Tour. That’s right! 18 years of college tours. That is impressive. Each year, our college counseling office takes a group of students to visit more than a dozen colleges on one of three routes. The 2019 tour focused on many of the schools in the Carolinas – going to 14 in total! That’s 14 schools in one week! Furman University Clemson University Wofford College University of South […]

Spring Break Trip to Oxford, England!

Our students were BUSY over Spring Break! Many were traveling with families or enjoying a staycation at home, but one special group of seniors was able to go on the 19th annual trip to Oxford, England and stay at the Spencer House. The Spencer House on Woodstock Road in Oxford, England is owned by Columbus State University.  The purchase of the house was made possible through the generosity of Mr. & Mrs. J. Kyle Spencer, loyal supporters of both CSU and Brookstone School.  In 2010, through guidance from Interim Headmaster […]

Seniors in the Classrooms

On the 13th annual Upper School Day of Service, as our students were spread across the community in partnership with local organizations, our seniors had a special service opportunity as they worked in our own Lower and Intermediate school classrooms with students. And as one who was able to observe the interactions in the various classrooms, let me just tell you that I’ve never seen anything so precious in all my life. It was AWESOME! The teachers loved it, the seniors loved it, and the little ones loved it. One […]

Karen Hearn, Brookstone Music Director, began rehearsing with 16 students in January for the Children of Peace concert held in Carnegie Hall. Hours and hours of rehearsals were held after school to prepare for this performance. Football Off-Season Training

It might be springtime, but our football players already have next season on their mind! And from the looks of it now, it’s going to be a good one! See the following email excerpt from our Varsity Football Coach, Blair Harrison: Our football team just finished our “winter phase” of our strength program.  I have traditionally sent a communication on how we are doing to our football parents. But in all honesty, I am using this platform to brag on our players! They have been working so hard and I […]

A big thank you goes out to Erin Trotter and Joe Mills for creating the fun calendar of activities, and thank you to the teachers and students for embracing it all as they celebrated their love of reading.
